Pre-owned Rolex Daytona ref 16523 (1991) in steel and gold is an officially certified, self-winding chronometer with a chronograph “El Primero” movement. Before Rolex brought production of the Daytona movement in-house, the Big Crown outsourced it from Zenith and the company’s celebrated “El Primero” mechanical movement. Today, all Rolex chronograph movements are developed and produced entirely in-house, making this discontinued Rolex ref. 16523 something of a cult-favorite among collectors in the know. Of course, we can forget that irresistible champagne dial, decorated with sleek black-trimmed sub-dials, thin Tritium hour markers in yellow gold applied settings, and long, sweeping hands.
